District Facts

Mount Vernon City Schools serves approximately 3600 students in grades K-12 and is the 111th largest school district among 610 public school districts in Ohio.  The Mount Vernon City School District's boundary traces over 92 miles and encompasses 145 square miles in Central Knox County.

Eight schools are in operation, including six elementary schools, with Mount Vernon High School and Mount Vernon Middle School sharing a common campus.  Mount Vernon Digital Academy, launched in the spring of 2016, accommodates students' individual needs and learning styles while providing flexible scheduling. Mount Vernon students are also served by the Knox County Career Center adjacent to the High School/Middle School.  The District also operates an administration building, a new transportation/ maintenance center, and The Energy Field House.
